As there is less useable lens surface in a small frame, it is all the more important that each vision area be perfectly positioned.
Although Varilux Ellipse is well known for its wide field of distance vision, Varilux Ellipse 360° improves this area even more, offering a visual acuity range of 145°, regardless of the prescription.
Different Prescriptions Have Different Natural Convergences
With a traditional progressive the progression channel is fixed and more or less complies with the wearer’s approximate natural convergence.
With Varilux Ellipse 360º - thanks to Essilor’s Advanced Digital Surfacing™ - the entire design is customised to the eye’s natural movement when changing from distance to near vision. The progression corridor completely respects the wearer’s natural convergence, whatever the prescription.
Special Focus On Near Vision
Essilor’s Advanced Digital Surfacing™ and patented calculation software enable the near vision zone to be positioned at the exact spot determined by the calculation to within one-thousandth of a millimetre.
Usable near vision is better positioned in front of the pupil and therefore appears wider to the wearer.
