Features and Benefits
Customised to frame shape and prescription
The visual performance is enhanced according to the frame shape chosen. This is achieved with Nikon's Optical Evaluation Function (OEF) technology, which improves performance within the useful zone of the lens corresponding to the frame shape.
- Nikon OEF system is an automatic design calculation programme. It continuously redesigns each evaluation point until the whole surface falling inside the frame shape is optimal in terms of thickness and acuity. This ensures accurate powers even in the lens periphery
Multi-directional double-aspheric lens
Double asphericity is not a new concept: it offers improved optical performance over conventional aspheric lenses for astigmatic prescriptions. However, Nikon Seemax brings double aspheric technology to a new level.
- Conventional Aspheric Lenses have an aspheric design on the front surface only. The lens is flatter, and oblique astigmatism and power error are better controlled than in spherical lenses. However when the prescription includes a cylinder, the design can only optimally control aberrations in one of the two principal meridians
- Conventional Double Aspheric Lenses have one aspheric axis on the front and two axes on the back surface. This allows for a level of improvement over aspheric lenses, yet distortions still exist in some areas of the lens
- Nikon Seemax is a multi-directional double-aspheric lens. It combines one aspheric axis on the front surface and eight axes on the back surface - that is six extra aspheric axes. This significantly improves the optical performance across the entire surface of the lens, reducing aberrations in multiple meridians
